Directo (2021) is a theatrical performance produced for Les Urbaines Festival. The work is a sonic incantation, a sound piece created during quarantine brought to a live setting through pantomime, drama and soliloquys. A manually pumped organ bookends the pre-recorded sound piece. Air and water, the conductive elements of sound, are the essential actors that enable the sound waves to propagate and the performance to exist. The physical bodies of the three performers enact the sounds while a moving spotlight guides the audience through sonic chaos in total darkness.
